In the military, the phrase “Eyes On Target” refers to the critical moment when visual contact is made with an objective, signifying a key milestone in a mission. This phrase underscores precision, focus, and coordinated action—qualities that resonate deeply with veterans.
Adapting this concept for the civilian world, SUITED for Veterans has developed the “EYES ON” program to highlight the personal, one-on-one services we provide to veterans and their families, ensuring they are seen, heard, and supported.
SUITED For Veterans Executive,
Maurice Reid is seen here (brown jacket)… discussing with multi-community organizations’ participants, the best strategy to employ in order to develop an effective assistance to a homeless encampment. An encampment that had seen temperatures drop to 28 degrees…the night before (February’25. )
…of the ordeal, Reid stated…I must be honest, I had to take a moment…put of my military demeanor and prepare to help…it was heart-wrenching, said this two tours in Iraq-Afghanistan combat veteran. I looked at the make shift “tarp and tree branches “ shelter and realized in my own community…in my backyard…there are Veterans who may had been in battle with me…who are now living …no barely…existing in places like this…he shook his head, as the former Petty Officer stepped closer to one of the roped tied…entrance of a garbage bag like tarp…where someone was calling it…”home”.
I am determined to locate as many Veterans in these encampments and other uninhabitable places in my hometown. When I locate them…I will first salute them..and say “thank you for your service”…here is the difference, said Reid as he began to clean up the remnants of a creative heating device…a tin can. I will not only say. “thank”…to my fellow Veterans, in need of safe housing…but I will quickly add, “how can I help, today ?
I am in a “war against Veteran homelessness”….and I plan to win this battle in my home town..one Veteran at a time…I am up close and personal with my operation…that is how some battles have to be fought and won.
